The Brave Stars CS5bC is the Jumbo Pack version of this simplified Chinese Pokémon TCG set. Each pack contains 25 standard cards—the term "Jumbo" refers to the number of cards, not the size. There are also "Slim Packs" with only 5 cards per pack.

Along with its sister set, Charming Stars CS5aC, Brave Stars contains 14 exclusive cards that have not been released in any other language. These cards originally came from the Pokémon Go set, but have been specially redesigned because Pokémon Go is banned in China. These cards include the Bulbasaur and Charmander lines, Radiant Venusaur, Radiant Eevee, Snorlax, and Bibarel.

Brave Stars focuses on Grass, Water, Fighting, and Steel Pokémon, while Charming Stars focuses on Fire, Electric, Psychic, and Dark Pokémon. Both sets also include cards from Crown Zenith , among others.
